Genesis 1-3

Matthew 1

“For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”   —Colossians 1:16-17

When it comes to important issues of life, we want to know the truth. Where and how did it all begin?
How did the universe come into being? What is our purpose on earth and where are we headed? Is
Christianity true and what assurances do we have that our salvation is guaranteed?

The answers to these questions and many more are found in Jesus Christ. Paul writes, “For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive” (1 Corinthians
15:21-22). The resurrection of the dead defies human logic, but everything about the Christian life is supernatural and derives from the power of God. Without the power of God, we would live by the tangible—what we
can see, understand and explain—but this too prompts many questions.

By what tangible force did the universe suddenly burst into being? What tangible force keeps it operational? What tangible entity could have placed human life, in fact, all of life on this earth? On a more basic level, we all have a soul, which is our personalities, comprised of likes and dislikes, character traits and emotions. We weep, mourn, laugh, rejoice, fear and get excited. None of this can be physically held in our hands, yet our souls are as real as our bodies. What tangible power endowed us with a soul? We may look at Darwin’s theory of evolution in which every form of life is related through descent. If human beings are truly evolved from apes, then where did the first ape come from and why are there still apes around? What genetic defect stopped
them from evolving?

We will find that everything about the Christian life is inexplicable apart from God, but in the Bible He gives us the answer to all creation, and most importantly, to human life. God created each of us individually with a soul designed to function by His indwelling Spirit. We are given the story of Jesus, His life, death, resurrection and ascension. God, having raised Jesus from the dead, is the fundamental point in the validity of the entire history of the Bible—past, present and future.

In Jesus Christ, our salvation is guaranteed, and is not only validated by His own resurrection, but Jesus tells us, “Because I live, you also will live” (John 14:19). If we are seeking the truth, Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” Jesus Christ is the Truth and the only answer that makes sense of this world and of our lives.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, You are the only answer that makes sense in this world I live in. Thank You for being the confidence in my life and the hope for my future.
