Proverbs 30-31
2 Corinthians 11:1-15
“Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God? You are the God who performs miracles; You display Your power among the peoples.” Psalm 77:13-14
The more we know God, the more we want to serve Him. Sometimes, as we are worshipping God, we get to a place where we are like, “Lord, take all of me, use all of me, do what You want in my life.” When we embrace a heart of a servant, we experience Christ even more. Yet, sometimes, when our eyes are fixed on the reality and the resources, everything seems heavy and hard and we forget that we worship a God who can make all things possible. Scripture gives us many examples of God performing signs and wonders beyond our wonder and belief.
In the book of Exodus, Moses encountered God in the burning bush and was told that he would deliver the Israelites out of Egypt from their bondage of slavery. Exodus 4:2-3 records, “Then the LORD said to [Moses], ‘What is that in your hand?’ ‘A staff,’ he replied. The LORD said, ‘Throw it on the ground.’ Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake....” Moses’s staff was referred to as “the staff of God” and it was the same staff that Moses was holding when God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites to cross when the Egyptians pursued them. At that time, Moses was 80 years old. If God could use a senior with a stick to go against the greatest military empire of its day, He could use us.
Some of us make God too small in our own eyes and get fixated on the wrong things, but if we step into serving, we will see Him take what we have and use it to bless others in ways that we cannot even imagine. Sometimes, God is calling us to do something because He is building our faith. God simply needs us to surrender what is in our hand and He will do the rest.
When we step into serving, we cannot forget to factor God into the equation, because if we do forget, we will feel overwhelmed immediately, like everything is all on us, and eventually, we will fall. We need to remember that the Creator of the cosmos is the One who is leading us. As we fix our eyes on heaven’s resources, He will show up.
Currently, are we serving God in the church? If we are, continue pouring into the area that He has placed us. But if we are not, what is holding us back? Remember, when we surrender what is in our hand to God, we will see His power at work.
Almighty God, I surrender what is in my hand to You. May You use me as You see fit for Your kingdom work. Thank You, Lord.
